i used post office check and send with the staff applying online for me with a tablet. it was very easy and good service. but then my old passport took 1 week to arrive at the passport office, in which time i was a bit concerned, and could not check its whereabouts online. so i returned to the post office to check, 1 week after the initial visit, and they told me it had arrived at 4.30pm the day before. then that afternoon the gov website emailed me confirming this. so the 1st week was a bit worrying ( because i wanted my passport back fairly fast, and many reports on here quoted a turnaround of around 10days). but once the old passport was received, everything else was fast and smooth, and regularly updated online/by email. 18 days from start to finish. both old and new passports arrived in separate envelopes, on the same day, within 2 hours of each other
