I used the post office check and send which was not useful as more documents were required. I sent the documents on the same day requested & received a letter about 10 days later saying as documents not received application could be cancelled. The call centre said that it takes 4 weeks for documents that have arrived in the office to get to the correct desk. Could this be true? Anyway the letter received asking for documents was dated 9 days before I received it so was obviously not posted timely. The one call centre lady seemed to be yawning. It is easier to get my other passport from a third world country. Disappointed.

As no fast track or premium appointments were available (despite checking frequently every day for over a week), I had no option to apply for a passport renewal via the standard application.
I submitted my application on Saturday 8th April but couldn’t post my old passport until Tuesday 11th as the Post Offices were closed due to the long bank holiday weekend. I sent via next day special delivery so it got there Wednesday 12th April, but the passport office didn’t register it as received until the Thursday 13th April.
The passport office advice that a passport renewal could take up to 10 weeks, but I received mine in just over 2 weeks including the long Easter bank holiday weekend.
