Make sure you have the person confirming your identity primed for doing so and don’t be reluctant to chase them if they haven’t. I also think having your photos taken digitally in a shop or booth and then submitting your application with a digital code speeds up things.
Given the current average turnaround times, and depending on the date of your travel, if its a lost passport, double and triple check that its not at home. My old one resurfaced a week after I cancelled it and applied for a new one. I could of saved £82.50, and the worry of it not turning up in time, if I had not cancelled straight away.
Finally, don’t rely on check and send services to speed things up. Whilst not related to this application, a previous application for my son submitted via this route came back to us as there was a problem. Lots of hassle and worry for us (we were due to fly in a couple of weeks) and the company concerned were effectively getting money for nothing.
