It was delayed by almost a week because the person I had asked to confirm my identity was busy, and then there were royal mail strikes when I sent my documents in which delayed my application further. Once they got the documents the process was smooth and fast.
The reason why I wouldn’t give my experience a 5 is that I’ve just received my supporting documents back and my naturalisation certificate came back damaged, folded in half, and with zero protection. Before sending it off I put it in a clear plastic sleeve with a piece of cardboard behind it for reinforcement, and I had packed it in a hard envelope. All of that has been thrown away and it came back with no reinforcement, in a thin paper envelope that did say “please do not fold” yet was folded in half. I’m quite upset that my original document received during my naturalisation ceremony has been treated with no respect.

I lost my passport in a fire 10 years ago, didn’t need replacement till now but didn’t have number etc. Passport office couldn’t have been more helpful.
I had to re submit another photo, did that Friday gone after all else been done, received message yesterday morning to say it had been passed, a further message late afternoon to say it had been printed and would be notified re delivery and bang on 8 a.m. this morning, another message with tracking number etc to say it would be delivered today.
WOWEE!!!
This was not expedited etc, just a normal renewal.

I was rather worried at first as we’d been warned it could take up to 10 weeks! However, thank goodness all was ok, it took just over 2 weeks, from the day I applied, to having the passport printed and delivered today – very relieved and happy it’s back in time for our holiday 🙂
