Considering the chaos and the fact this is my first adult passport (naturalisation) I think it went pretty well. Applied online, quick and easy. I sent my supporting documents on 3rd of may, my identity confirmed in 3rd of may too, Glasgow Passport Office marked my documents as received on 9th of May. Just to get my supporting documents back wonder how long that is going to take.

It took me 4 months to get mine. A tip for those who are still waiting:
If you have any travels booked then contact them 2 weeks before your departure date, you may need proof of your flights. They will tell you that someone will give you a call. You would expect someone to give you a call immediately, but what actually happens is someone would call you 2-3 days before your departure date to tell you that your passport is ready for collection at a designated Passport Collection office. It is stressful but be patient and good luck.

Ridiculous, holiday booked for 17th of June and my daughter’s passport is still stuck in a draw with the examiner after 9 weeks.
Poor service
I feel robbed of money.

We fly on 14th of June and after over 20 phone call, over 20 emails to various offices along with emailing our MP. We are still no closer to get it and are going to be forced to queue outside the passport office 24 hours before our flight to have ANY chance if receiving it. One of the most stressful, cruel dehumanising experiences I’ve ever been through.

It has now been stuck on this and after seeing the average adult renewal passport processing times being 23-24 days I am now losing hope! We fly on the 27th of June.

I renewed my application online. I’m not travelling until August but worked out that I had 14 weeks until my holiday. The only stage of the process that really worried me was the documents received. I sent my old passport by recorded delivery on 5 May, they received it on the 9 May because I checked the tracking. I received a confirmation email on 23 May to say my old passport was received. After that the process ran smoothly.

Longest wait was for old passport to be marked as received after Royal Mail signed for delivery which was a little stressful. We were right up against it and not eligible for upgrade for travel on 5th June but it arrived in just over 3 weeks.

Less than 1 month from start to finish! I was so worried with lots of sleepless night.
App in on Thursday and old passport sent with next day signed for to Durham HMPO.
Most stressful part was them acknowledging they received it as I had got a reminder to send it in 2 weeks after I had posted.
However once they received it was only 7 days later to receive.
Just give yourself plenty of time so you don’t have the stress.
I know there are horror stories, but I think the majority are coming back quite quickly for renewal.

All straight forward! Completed online easily. Took the photograph on my phone. This was stressful as my 15 month old was required to not smile, cry, open his mouth and look directly at the camera on a white background. Top tip – rather than sitting him up I lay him down on a white sheet. I’ve also read some people wearing a white sheet and sitting their little one on their knee! Didn’t expect the photo to be accepted but it was. Had a couple of weeks of no communication before documents received and after that too. When it was approved we received in a couple of days. The media made this much for stressful than it actually was as it was totally fine. 35 days from application to arrival.

Excellent experience in difficult times.
I decided to go straight for fast track despite having 8 weeks until our holiday for my baby’s first passport. This was the best decision I made.
